If you are dealing with an estate with an asset held in Hong Kong you will require a reseal of the UK Grant which must be applied for by a local firm to the Hong Kong court, there is no small estate procedure in Hong Kong and therefore whether the value is £50 or 25000 you will still need a reseal.
This means that it can be very expensive to obtain a reseal, however we can make the process as stress free as possible in dealing with our local Hong Kong agent on your behalf at reduced rates, all we need is a “client information form” completed along with the usual anti money laundering requirement of ID for the executor(s) along with a sealed and certified copy of the Grant of Probate with Will annexed, Death Certificate and evidence of the asset held in Hong Kong.
Once the process has started its then a waiting game with the Probate Registry in Hong Kong either sending a letter of requisitions to us within 8 to 10 weeks or issue the resealed Grant of Probate within 6 to 8 weeks thereafter when all requisitions have been complied with (if any).
